It's almost Labor Day! We all labor in one way or another - our work for the Lord, our work outside the home/inside the home, childbirth, spiritual, and physical labor!
Please share your favorite Bible verse or hymn that talks about labor in one way or another and any thoughts you have about the verse/hymn. If you don't have a favorite Bible verse or hymn for this topic, now is a good time to find one!
Post on my blog.(Write a blurb on your blog about my giveaway if you have a blog)
I will draw a name on Labor Day morning (September 1st), so have your entry in by August 31st midnight EST.
The person picked will receive a brand new movie - Love's Long Journey based on the Janette Oke book.
"...labor not for wealth or fame, there's a crown and you can win it, if you go in Jesus' name!"

Hebrews 6:10-12
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Thank you for doing this giveaway! I love the Janette Oak books and I have only seen the first movie.

Thanks, Tobitha

My favorite "labor" Hymn would have to be "We'll work till Jesus Comes"

O land of rest, for thee I sigh!
When will the moment come
When I shall lay my armor by
And dwell in peace at home?

Refrain

We’ll work till Jesus comes,
We’ll work till Jesus comes,
We’ll work till Jesus comes,
And we’ll be gathered home.

To Jesus Christ I fled for rest;
He bade me cease to roam,
And lean for comfort on His breast
Till He conduct me home.

Refrain

I sought at once my Savior’s side;
No more my steps shall roam.
With Him I’ll brave death’s chilling tide
And reach my heav’nly home.

Refrain

Please include me in your drawing.
Have also shared it on my blog

I wasn't going to enter because I won last time. My favorite song is "Our Best"

OUR BEST ~ S.C.Kirk

Hear ye the Master’s call, “Give Me thy best!”
For, be it great or small, that is His test.
Do then the best you can, not for reward,
Not for the praise of men, but for the Lord.

Refrain

Every work for Jesus will be blest,
But He asks from everyone his best.
Our talents may be few, these may be small,
But unto Him is due our best, our all.

Wait not for men to laud, heed not their slight;
Winning the smile of God brings its delight!
Aiding the good and true ne’er goes unblest,
All that we think or do, be it the best.

Refrain

Night soon comes on apace, day hastens by;
Workman and work must face testing on high.
Oh, may we in that day find rest, sweet rest,
Which God has promised those who do their best.

Refrain

1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

7So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

8Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

9For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

I love this section of verses about our labor and work for the Lord.

What a fun Giveaway!!!!

My favorite "Labor" song is
"when the Roll is called up Yonder"

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Refrain:
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

I would love to be included on your giveaway and I am posting this on my blog right now~

Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

This is my favorite verse about labor...I always apply it to me or any other person in the ministry. We carry so many burdens...not only our own, but those of the congregation, or other pastor's and thier wives. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed. This verse reminds me that I don't have to feel that way.
I can go to God and He will take them from me....then I can rest in His sweet Word....

Great give-a-way bythe way! I love her movies! (and her books)

I am not sure if this is what you want but this is one of my favorite verses...
Matthew 9:37
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
I would love to win your contest
Thanks for doing this.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

This verse is one I claim daily in my role as a wife and mother. It encourages me to be faithful in the little things.
