In the spirit of Mother's Day, I am hosting a blog giveaway.
All you need to do is comment here about how the Lord has made you the mom you are today or the mom you hope to be someday (newlyweds, expecting first baby, etc. )
Then write a little blurb on your blog(if you have one) about my giveaway. Be sure to leave your email address in your comment on my blog so I can contact you if you are the winner. {You can do one of these if you prefer: (me at mommy dot com) so you don't have to post your e-mail.} The drawing will be on the morning of May 10th! This will be a random drawing that is not based on the "quality" of your comment.
This is not a grand giveaway and I am not crafty, but I wanted to do something.
I will be giving away a 5 CD series by Loretta Walker, "Home Sweet Home" She addresses child rearing, marriage, and gladness!

I am, by no means, the Mom I want to be yet. The Lord is always working on me. I have three beautiful girls that keep me very busy, and sometimes I forget to slow down and enjoy them. I use my Mom as a roll model. She is the best Mom anywhere. My grandmother printed out a poem for her when we were little and my Mom framed it. She always tried to remember it when the house started getting messy. So, my grandmother sent it to me the other day. Here it is,
Excuse This House
Author: Unknown
Some houses try to hide the fact
That children shelter there,
Ours boasts it quite openly,
The signs are everywhere.
For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges are on the doors
I should apologize, I guess
For toys strewn on the floor.
But I sat down with my child
And we played and laughed and read
And if the doorbell doesn’t shine,
His eyes will shine instead.
For when at times I’m forced to choose
The one job or the other,
I’d like to cook and clean and scrub,
But first I’ll be a mother."
I read verses often, and put them to memory on childrearing. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

Hi Heather! I know I still have a great distance to travel in motherhood, but the Lord has brought me soooo far. I was not raised in a Christian home, actually a pretty dysfunctional home, yet God is using me (and my husband) to raise 6 wonderful girls, two of which have been called to the missions field, and another to full time Christian service. I cry evertime I really think of it.
My mother abandoned her 3 children, my brother, my sister and I when we were very young. We never knew her or had any memories of her. Some would say it was for the best, and we were better off. This is an example of the kind of mother I don't want to be. I strive to make good memories with my 3 children, to be there for them, even when they don't want me to, and let them know they are precious and loved.

I am so grateful that God has entrusted me with my 3 boys. They are precious to me. Every day I want the Lord to help me to be the mother he wants me to be. My goal is to raise 3 men of God that will serve God and love Him with all of their hearts. That is my prayer as I live each day. May they see the light of Jesus in me. I know I have a long way to go and I will never be a perfect mom but I want to grow each day in the Lord. God bless each of you on this Mother's Day! He sure has blessed me!
God will always provide a way in the darkness. I Have a childhood that I would love to forget. But God can take the most broken and still use them. I will try to post about your blog giveaway.
Heather,
I think the one thing that has helped me the most is how after a very trying time in my life the Lord really worked on my heart for almost a year (I slipped into a major depression) and showed me that I needed to be the mom I should be and to make the most of every situation with and for my kids.
I have a great mom and I was brought up in a Christian home, but my mom started to work outside of the home in my Jr High through High School years and I really saw the difference in how all of us kid became. I am so thankful that I am a FULL-time Stay at home mom and I am able to homeschool all my children that is more than I could ever ask for.
What a great giveaway! Have a wonderful Mother's Day!
My email is found on the front page of my blog~
I am off to post about it now ;)

Hi Heather!
Kristy Jo on Vuh!
I am not the mom that I want to be but I am certianly striving.
I remember my mind set pre salvation and knowing about the Lord, I wanted to wait till I was 35 to get married and have kids. I wanted to work outside the home and have my kids in daycare.
Thankfully tho, the Lord got ahold of me way before I got married. While I do realize that sometimes people do have to work outside the home . I would if I had to, but, its certianly not a goal of mine to have a stranger raise my child anymore..
I am thankful for that... I dont miss the little things.. I couldnt imagine if I had to.....
Hi Heather!
I am definitely NOT the mother I should be, but with the Lord's help, I hope to become the mother He would have me be. I want to be a godly example for my children. I want to bring them up to love the Lord with their whole heart, and to serve Him with their whole being! I know I have made many mistakes, put I pray that the Lord would help me to be a better Mother to my children!

Hi! The Lord has blessed me with three children, ages 4, 3, and almost 2. I thank and praise Him for them!
Oh, goodness...so sorry I forgot to post my email addie. It's-

How has God made me the mom I am today?
From the beginning, I learned HE was in control of everything. I was born at 23 wks, 28 yrs ago. Since my married life ( nine years ) He has brought me through so much! The one health problem that brought me closest to God is my cancer. I am so thankful He allowed me to go through that and lean on Him.
God has blessed me with four beautiful children. They have watched me go through many things, but they have learned that God is in control and no matter how dark the path may seem, God's the light at the end of the tunnel and He will NEVER leave us or forsake us.
My Christian Roll Model is, Edith Bennett, or whom we affectionally call, Aunt Tooie. She will be 100 years old on May 19th. She is a wonderful Christian example and still works in the church every Sunday. I am so blessed to have been with her for 28 yrs and for my children to get to see this wonderful woman of God.
I could write on and on about God's goodness and the things He has used to bring me to the mother I am now. I am not perfect and not where I want to be, but I am here, now, and taking each step, with God's hand in mine...
Sorry, I forgot to sign my name and my email...
